This was an extremely unusual project and one with which we were extremely proud to be involved. It stretched the interior design talent of Alexandra in our Sales team, who really relished the opportunity to utilise her Interior Design qualifications and experience. We went much further than usual in helping the Safari Park management team to bring their vision for the lodges to life.
We don’t usually get involved in sourcing sample wall and floor tiles, the right colour of hydro lock shower panels, and complementary finish shower screens, but on this project that is what we did do. We also found deals on microwaves and fridges, because we were making the units which were to house them.
Our fabricators became heavily involved in additional site visits and meetings, and we even helped to source trades for the electrical fit out, the plumbing and the tiling. We of course needed to liaise closely with these trades to ensure they came in at the right time, put sockets and plumbing for the showers in the right place, etc.
In addition, we made totally bespoke furniture from compact grade laminate in Formica Rural Oak, including fridge and microwave cupboards, drawer units and shelving in the kitchens, and bespoke shelving for the bathrooms.
Our solid surface fabrication skills were of course used on the kitchen and bathroom surfaces in both types of lodge. Durasein Nightfall was the chosen material, and we fabricated the kitchen worktops with a thermoformed curved end panel for extra wow factor. We also clad the window reveals and made matching splashbacks.
In the bathrooms, we fabricated all of the vanity bowls ourselves from Durasein Nightfall solid surface material because there were no off the shelf alternatives that matched the client’s requirements. They were delighted with the bespoke square shape.
