What is Solid surface?

Solid surface is a perfect material choice for your kitchen and bathroom worktops due to its beauty and durability. It is a man-made acrylic stone sheet that is commonly supplied to us in 12mm slabs, of which we can fabricate into any worktop thickness that our clients request.

Solid surface is most distinguishable by its curved edges, seamless joins and moulded sinks, and there are many advantages and special features that are only available when you choose solid surface as your worktop choice. Below, we will delve into a few options.

Moulded sinks

Moulded sinks are a stand-alone feature of solid surface worktops. The ability to seamlessly join solid surface sheets together allows for a sleek, ultra-modern solution for your kitchen sink that won’t break the bank, yet looks effortlessly stylish. All brands of solid surface offer a huge catalogue of off-the-shelf sink designs that we can integrate within your surfaces for a perfect kitchen solution. Browse our brochures above and contact us for more information.

Seamless joins

A key benefit of Solid Surface Worktops is seamless joins, meaning that a surface can be 10 metres long and appear to have no joins! This is due to the fabrication techniques used by solid surface specialists like us, where we use colour match adhesive to the sheet, cleat and clamp it together until it dries, and then when it is sanded, it is totally smooth to the touch, and often you cannot see it at all (although this depends on the colour you have chosen). For veined pattern surfaces where the joins cannot be disguised so easily, we make beautiful features out of them so that they become an element of character in your surfaces. Having seamless joins also allows for the ultimate anti-bacterial work surface. There are no grout lines or crevices for dirt to hide and this makes solid surface the lowest maintenance choice for a kitchen worktop.

Bespoke sinks

We can custom design sinks of your choosing if you can’t find your perfect fit in the ‘off the shelf’ solid surface options. The sinks are seamlessly integrated with your surface, and the advantage of a handmade bespoke sink is that it is made in the same colour and pattern as your worktop for the ultimate flow in modern kitchen design.

Sink lids

This is a perfect space-saving solution for those with small kitchens that need to be as multi functional as possible. Having a lid for your sink means that when it is not in use, the area can be used to create a larger work surface area. If not for space saving, it also streamlines the look of your kitchen and keeps the design neat and tidy, and as minimalistic as possible

Coved upstands

Coved upstands are a huge advantage of having a solid surface worktop, as well as being a unique feature of Solid Surface Worktops only. They are the same principal as seamless joins. Instead of the worktops and upstands meeting at a right angle and being of a separate nature, the worktops and upstands flow seamlessly into each other with coving, meaning there are no heard to reach spots to clean and no silicone or glue lines. Coved upstands create a modern aesthetic yet practical solution for low maintenance kitchen living.

Custom worktop thickness

Since solid surface is fabricated from 12mm thick sheets, as a worktop, the thickness choice customisable. You can choose between ultra-slim 12mm or thicknesses such as 40mm or 50mm for a heavier finish. We can also add whichever worktop profile you desire, whether it is curved, square, bevelled, or traditional stone imitation such as an ogee edge profile.
